TAMPA — Three people were arrested early Friday at the Occupy Tampa protest at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa.
According to Tampa police, two protesters pushed a police officer who was responding to the park after receiving a call about two tents in the park.
Officials said protesters were sleeping in the tents.
Keith Daniel Cuesta, 24, and Stephen R. Gentile, 29, were arrested and both charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. Gentile also was charged with obstructing or opposing an officer without violence. Officials said Cuesta was taken to Tampa General Hospital after complaining of back pains.
Also, Karel Sourcre, 31, of New York, was taken into custody and charged with interference with a police investigation and resisting without violence.
There have been about 12 arrests since the Occupy Tampa protests started a little more than a month ago.
Protesters responded by saying some of the officers were overly aggressive.”
